I’m making an iphone app, and I need a sound from a website, the license reads: You are Free: – To remix or transform the sounds in any way – To copy and transmit the sounds- but not resell them as they are originally downloaded from Soundsnap – To use the sounds in any music, film, video game, website etc. whether commercial or not, without paying addiotional royalties or other fees beyond the initial membership cost (if any) Does this mean I can put it in my application without giving credits? I’m planning to make it free.
Doesn’t matter if your app is free or not. The sound byte is not available for distribution (whether commercial [where the app costs money] or not [free]). By publicly distributing your app you will be liable to pay royalties. As your app is free, the royalties demanded will be those royalties the originator of the sound holds as price for its sound byte.
