Royalty Free Music Logos
i received a music cd from my work, there’s no artist/copyright info. Can I use for a corporate production?
I work at a hospital, but I’m trying to start a video production company. As a free employee appreciation gift, we all received a generic cd with the hospital logo, that’s full of relaxing music. The only thing on the CD is song titles, but nothing else. No artist/band, no info of anysort. Can I consider this “royalty free” music to use in my next production since there is no information given to possibly purchase it?

The insert again has our logo, and “we appreciate our employees” The back of the CD shows song titles, but nothing else. No artist/band, no info of anysort. You cannot assume that it’s public domain/royalty free. Your hospital probably paid a stock fee to reproduce it, and you cannot piggyback on that license.
Since you’re starting a video production company, you certainly know that there are many stock audio tracks that are available to purchase — with unlimited use rights as a part of a set or a pay-per-use system (which you can then pass on to your customers).
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that just because there’s no (c) on the disk that it’s not copyrighted. That’s not the law in the U.S. anymore, and hasn’t been for at least 50 years. if you make a really great production that gets noticed, the creator of the audio track may come after you… and your client!
