Do you consider Styx progressive?

What about Kansas and the Moody Blues?
I know, it’s an odd question, but I’m planning on making this YouTube video on the best progressive rock tunes (if you could call them ‘tunes’), and I wanted to get your opinion on the music of these guys. I’m almost 100% sure that the Moody Blues would be classified as progressive (specifically their post-’Nights in White Satin’ stuff), and I know Styx and Kansas are usually classified as arena rock (‘Lady’ is no ‘Long Distance Runaround’, that’s for sure), but songs like ‘Renegade’ are kind of prog, right?

What do you think?
Yes, their first albums are pretty progressive.
And you’d all be surprised the stuff these guys have all released. Did you ever hear ‘Magnum Opus’ by Kansas? It’s one of the most progressive songs ever written. So is ‘Fool’s Overture’ by Supertramp.

Kansas and Moody Blues, YES
Styx, not as much, not even Renegade.
Come Sail Away has more of a progressive sound to me.

You should include Genesis, Yes and Rush to the mix

With graying baby boomers becoming key underwriters of viewer-supported television, a staid Public Broadcasting System grudgingly acknowledged the existence of rock & roll in the 1990s. The Moody Blues, via their somewhat heavy-handed, 1993 concert video A Night at Red Rocks, were among the first Woodstock generation acts to end up in constant rotation during affiliate pledge drives. The band’…

Faith in oneself is crucial but often difficult to develop. Calvin Fuller (Thomas Ian Nicholas), a misfit from the 20th-century “Knights” baseball team, lacks self-confidence. Imagine his alarm when he’s sucked into the Middle Ages to answer the wizard Merlin’s (Ron Moody) plea for a “Knight” to save King Arthur and Camelot from the scheming Lord Belasco (Art Malik). Intense culture shock bef…
