so is it music? dance? both?
ive seen youtube videos but im still not quite sure what it really is. can anyone help clarify it for me?
Kwaito is an urban black South African form of music. It incorporates dance, hip-hop, african lyrics and themes with an upbeat modern township rhythm. It is music and dance at the same time. Checkout Mzekezeke, Engayeze, Gogo Tsotsi. 50-50 and Romeo. Remember on YouTube they are mostly videos so that’s why there is so much dancing. The music dates from about the 90′s and has its origins in the big townships of Johanesburg and Pretoria but is widespread all over SA now.
