Why does my computer shut off and my power supply get hot when i play a game on my comupter?
When I play a game on my comp the power supply starts getting hot and the comp shuts down. It burnt out so I replaced it with a new one and still the same problem. Iv’e ran movies and music at the same time and no problem but the moment I turn a game on a few minutes later it turns off and theres very hot air comming out of the supply. Any ideas? is it shorting out? or motherboard or proceccer or video card maybe?
power supply: 450 w
cpu: amd 64 2.5 ghz
video card: geforce 7800 gt
memory: 1gb corsair
it could be that your cooling system is just not good enough for your graphics card. what type of graphics card do you use, and what type of power suppply. that could be a factor too. its more likely your graphics card because it occurs when ur playing a game. when i play wow my computers two fans go off like crazy. and the reason ur computer shuts down is to proteect its self
