How and what do I need to create “Remixed” Music for my computer?

I am search for a Mixer or Splicer or something like this so that I can manufacture a Remix or several Remixes from my Music Collection. I would like to be able to use an Application on my Computer dubbing and splicing my own collection of favorite hits, but I am looking for the “Free” software for “Beginners”.

A good program to make remixes is called Adode Audition, formerly Cool Edit pro.
