There’s been a lot of great bands to come out of the Pacific Northwest. In your opinion who’s the best ever, and who’s the best band of “today’s” music style.

Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Amber Pacific, Daphne Loves Derby, The Fall Of Troy, Danger Radio, Vendetta Red, Death Cab For Cutie, The Postal Service, Heart, Jimi Hendrix, Modest Mouse, Queensryche, The Classic Crime, Band of Horses, Sleater-Kinney, Candlebox, MxPx, The Presidents of the United States of America, Minus The Bear, Screaming Trees
Bands with local ties: Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age
I’m sure I missed a few, those are basically off the top of my head. Pick your top 5, and feel free to use others not on the list!

Definitely one of my favorites.
I don’t care what you think of Nirvana, they have had more impact on music then most of the rest of the other bands on this list put together.
But yes, I live in the Seattle area, and I get sick of hearing them every day on the radio. =)
I’d have to say that my favorite well-known bands that come from this area would have to be, in no particular order:
Minus the Bear
Fall of Troy
Death Cab for Cutie (this counts Postal Service too, same person)
Soundgarden (this counts Audioslave too, I guess)
Presidents of the United States of America
however, there are a number of good local bands, too, that aren’t as well heard of:
Future Fossils (ha ha ha, love these guys)
Forgive Durden (before they broke up and reformed)
Nether (used to be their rhythm guitarist)
Pink Lincoln (technically up in Bellingham – whatever)
Bonecandy (but I think they broke up? =( )
She Knows (I think this is the name… cute lead singer, lots of fun)
Jupiter Rising (I think they’re local, good players)
Smoosh (chuckle, I don’t care, I want to see them live)
there’s a decent music scene here, and these are just the bands that I remember playing with and/or have heard buzz about….
