Free Set Ups with Guitar Purchase? [guitar center, samash, and other stores]?
Ok, so I’m going to buy my first acoustic guitar sometime this week. I really want to learn to play the guitar. The question I have is that if i go to guitar center or samash music store will they set up the action and tune the guitar for me with the purchase of the guitar? I ask because the price at guitar center is a bit higher than the price on amazon, and if they’re not going to offer that free set up, I really would rather just purchase from amazon…. The guitar I’m looking to buy is the Takamine Jasmine S35, and I’ve heard from reviews that it has a high action, and it would be nice if they set the action lower for me at guitar center or sam ash if i went to go buy it there..

I agree with the guy above that doing a set up isn’t hard and you tube offers videos on how to do it but you being a complete newbie, I wouldn’t recommend it, if you had been playing for a while then I would tell you to do it yourself, that it is rather easy
BUT
I know first hand my local guitar centers does nothing as far as set up goes. The guitar comes in , they tune it and put it on the wall.
As far as tuning goes, don’t worry about that . You are going to have to learn to do it yourself. You should be checking your guitars tune every time you play it and depending how well it holds tune and how long you were playing , you might have to re-tune in the middle of playing. Learning to tune your guitar is just part of playing a guitar.
BUT
I would caution you from buying your guitar online. YES , it might be cheaper but it is a risk.
You should play it before you pay for it
I see you are interested in the Jasmine? You can take a Jasmine and play it and pick up another one and it will have a complete different feel to it. I think guitars are as individual as people are
